Senior Construction Manager

Oak & Satin, an upmarket real estate development company, specializing in the development of residential and commercial properties is looking to add a senior construction manager to its growing team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labor force and the work of any subcontractors
  • Commissioning, organizing, and assessing the work of contractors.
  • Working with detailed diagrams, plans, and drawings using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) software and other resources to design the systems required for the project.
  • overseeing and supervising the installation of building systems and specifying maintenance and operating procedures;
  • Monitoring building systems and processes
  • Meeting the schedule and organizing the resources needed to do so.
  • Developing working sets of drawings and designs.
  • Monitoring the scope of work and any changes or additions to it. In turn, managing change orders.
  • Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, and in-house project teams;
  • Attending a range of project group and technical meetings;
  • Managing, monitoring, and interpreting the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect;
  • Develop and implement project work plans and review as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Planning the work and efficiently organizing the site facilities in order to meet agreed deadlines;
  • Overseeing quality control and health and safety matters on-site;
  • Liaising with the local authority (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with local construction regulations and by-laws;
  • Innovate and develop new standards, policies, and procedures for engineering work as necessary to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Checking plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy of calculations;
  • Ensuring that all materials used and work performed are as per specifications;
  • Acting as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives;
  • Ensure compliance of construction detail documentation to quality control and best practice.
  • Agreeing on a price for materials and making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project;
  • Remain up-to-date with current and trending elements of design, construction, and technology.
  • Evaluate projects and provide reports to identify issues and opportunities to improve performance going forward.
  • Organize and maintain project files
  • Assist with collation of all relevant planning documentation and assist with follow-up on approvals where necessary, until consent is obtained for the Group’s projects.
  • Undertake all such other tasks or duties as may be assigned to him from time to time as may be required to meet the needs of the Company.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • We require a minimum of Bachelor’s degree or HND in a construction-related or engineering discipline with at least 7  years of proven experience in building, civil and infrastructure projects, including 4 years of proven experience in a multi-project environment within a reputable construction company.
  • The position requires the demonstration of a high level of professional competence, personal integrity, and leadership capabilities.
  • Professional certification in Project Management is desirable
  • Interior design experience is an added advantage.
  • Ability to use relevant Engineering design software(s) to generate Civil/Structural drawings and calculations.
  • Current knowledge of industry practice and techniques; especially conditions of contract and documentation as it relates with pre and post-contract processes.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies is an advantage
  • High level of  analytical, communication, and negotiation skills necessary with proficiency in MS Project, Excel and CAD system
